Third and second in the Eredivisie will meet this weekend at the Philips Stadion with PSV Eindhoven set to play hosts to rivals Ajax in what is turning out to be the biggest game of the season for either side this Sunday afternoon.

The two clubs are still trailing the league leaders Feyenoord by eight points each, as both sides have collected 62 points so far in contrast to the league leaders' eight. What's more, Ajax sit in second by only goals difference.

This comes as a result of the champions scoring the most goals in the league once more with 79, which is just one more than that of PSV's tally. Ajax also have a better defensive record with 29 goals let in compared to PSV's 35.

Ajax actually defeated Feyenoord in the KNVB Cup semi-finals two weeks ago, as goals from Dusan Tadic and Davy Klaassen sealed a 2-1 win at De Kuip, and with PSV also winning their semi-final against Spakenburg after goals from Erick Gutierrez and Patrick van Aanholt, the two will now meet in the final next weekend.

It means two games in a row where these two will clash in the Netherlands, and this game is set to be a little insight into how the cup final could go next week.

Ajax won again last week in a 3-1 victory over FC Emmen where Tadic scored another goal, as Jorge Sanchez and Steven Bergwijn also scored a goal each in the home win.

The Amsterdam outfit also defeated Fortuna Sittard 4-0 two weeks back, where Steven Berghuis netted a double before Bergwijn and Kenneth Taylor added a goal each in a game that saw 71% of the ball.

PSV have also scored seven goals in their past two games after winning their KNVB Cup semi-final by a 2-1 scoreline as well. This has seen the club beat Excelsior 4-0 thanks to goals from Gutierrez, Fabio Silva, Xavi Simons and Luuk de Jong.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's men also secured a 3-2 away win against Volendam last time out thanks to a brace from Guus Til after another finish from de Jong.

PSV ran out 2-1 winners the last time these two met in the Eredivisie with goals from de Jong and Gutierrez before a finish from Lorenzo Lucca in the second half for Ajax.

Forebet predicts an away win for Ajax and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
