Sevilla and Manchester United’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final showdown hangs in the balance following the Spanish side’s late comeback at Old Trafford last week.

Man Utd appeared to be cruising to a comfortable 2-0 victory in the first leg, only for own goals from Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire to level the score in the dying moments.

The two sides renew acquaintances at Sevilla’s Roman Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on Thursday evening, and it’s all to play for ahead of the second leg.

A first-half brace from Marcel Sabitzer put Manchester United in firm control of the first leg, but the hosts failed to hold onto their advantage on home soil.

The Red Devils bounced back with an easy 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, courtesy of goals from Antony and Diogo Dalot.

As a result, Erik ten Hag’s men have avoided defeat in eight of their last nine outings, with two losses coming in their previous 21 matches across all competitions.

Better still, United are on a 10-match unbeaten run in the Europa League, having picked up eight wins and two draws since losing to Real Sociedad on Matchday 1.

As for Sevilla, they claimed a 2-0 victory at Valencia on Sunday, extending their unbeaten run to four games in the process.

The Andalusia outfit were in real danger of suffering La Liga relegation earlier this season, but they now find themselves eight points clear of the drop zone.

In the Europa League, Sevilla have won all of their last four home clashes, keeping a clean sheet in each of their previous three.

Having won four of the past nine Europa League titles, Sevilla know what it takes to secure the silverware and will not go down without a fight.

Head-to-head: Sevilla remain unbeaten against Manchester United, having recorded two wins and two draws against the Red Devils since 2018.

Let’s not forget that the Spanish side knocked Man Utd out of the Europa League en route to lifting the trophy in 2019-20.

Team news: Sevilla’s danger man is Youssef En-Nesyri, who has scored 14 goals across all competitions this season, including three goals in Europe.

Man Utd’s injury list contains Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Alejandro Garnacho and Donny van de Beek, while Luke Shaw and Marcel Sabitzer are doubts.

Regardless of Sevilla’s recent record in the Europa League, Man Utd are expected to book their place in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Despite Man Utd’s injury problems, Forebet predicts that Erik ten Hag's men will score over 1.5 goals on their way to defeating Sevilla.
