Salernitana are now hovering just above the relegation zone after a tough fixture last time out saw them fail to beat a fellow relegation fighter as Paulo Sousa’s men head to the San Siro to meet with an AC Milan side in search of a swift return to winning ways.

It's been far from a good season for Milan in 2022/23 as they've put in a weak effort to defend their Serie A title. The champions did lose to Fiorentina in Florence last time out as well, as Theo Hernandez scored in the 95h minute of that 2-1 loss.

Just prior to this, however, Milan did win four in a row following on from their loss to rivals Inter Milan.

They edged past Torino, Tottenham Hotspur and Monza 1-0, just as they got a memorable 2-0 victory over Atalanta in Serie A to get a tighter grip on the European spots this season.

It does, however, keep them down in fifth because of their inferior goals difference against Roma in fourth, as they are still three behind Inter in second and two behind Lazio in second.

Milan met with Spurs once more in midweek, and although the 0-0 result that day extended their winless run to two games, it does mean they are into the last eight of the Champions League for the first time in over a decade.

It was a comfortable night for Milan in that game, as Rafael Leao missed two clear-cut chances to score by hitting the post and missing a one-on-one effort against Fraser Forster in the Spurs goal.

As for Salernitana, they had their best chance yet this season to rocket themselves further away from the bottom three, but they failed to beat Sampdoria down in 20th. It still keeps the club in 16th, while they are a healthy seven points above the relegation zone.

Salernitana have still only won six games this season and netted a poor record of 28 goals and let in 44 - no side in Serie A other than Cremonese has conceded more than them.

On the other hand, despite that poor 0-0 draw in Genoa, Sousa's men did manage to smash Monza 3-0 two weeks ago to end a losing run of three games that saw them concede six goals and fail to score a single goal.

Forebet predicts a win here for Milan and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
