RB Salzburg will be looking to give Roma the boot in the Europa League this Thursday evening with the Austrian side heading to Rome with a 1-0 lead in their two-legged tie as Jose Mourinho looks to make it yet another knockout round in a European competition.

Mourinho has guided Roma to a Europa Conference League win already in his two-year tenure at the club so far. The former Chelsea boss struggled at times to get through some games, but in the end, he and his Roma side were well deserving of winning the title in its inaugural year.

In 2022/23, however, Roma have struggled in the Europa League. The club head into this game having finished second in their Group C encounter, while also losing two games, drawing one and winning three others.

This brought in a record of 11 goals scored and seven conceded. In reality, however, Roma should have made things much easier for themselves.

Things have been made worse for Roma with their terrible efforts in Austria last week. Nicolas Capaldo scored for the home sider that day with just two minutes left of regular time.

It means Mourinho's men have an awful lot of work to do, as they had only three shots on target from nine efforts, just as Salzburg had 14 efforts towards goal with two hitting the target.

Roma are coming into this one off the back of a return to the win column in Serie A, however, as Ola Solkbakken scored the game's only goal in a 1-0 home win over Hellas Verona. Just prior to this in February, Roma also drew with Lecce and defeated Empoli 2-0.

As for Salzburg, they won yet again over the past weekend, as an own goal and another finish from Benjamin Sesko forced a 3-1 win with Karim Konate getting in on the act towards the end of the game.

In fact, the club only let their clean sheet against WSG Tirol go with a 91st minute finish from Denis Tomic.

Matthias Jaissle's side are now at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga by six points, as they have won 14 games and lost only once all campaign long. Better yet, they've managed to secure 40 goals too, and let in only 10.

Forebet predicts a win for Roma in this one and for the game to see under 2.5 goals
