It's one of the biggest games in the Eredivisie this weekend for FC Groningen and Cambuur with the two teams down in the bottom three and with a rare chance to start a building process to get out of the relegation spots at the Euroborg Stadion.
As of now, Groingen are coming into this one with one more win than Cambuur having now won three games with the latter winning only two.
At the same time, Groningen have to score double the games that we have seen go in from Cambuur, but the bottom-placed side have only let in 28 goals compared to the 36 of Groingen.
In fact, oddly enough, Cambuur have the best defensive record in the bottom seven despite their terrible record of only nine points from 17 games.
The bulk of their points have come from their two wins so far, but the club have also drawn three times to put them on nine. At the same time, with 12 losses now in the Dutch top flight, there is very little hope for them moving forward in terms of staying in this division.
Gronigen lost 3-1 to Heerenveen last time out because of two goals in the last 10 minutes from the latter team. Groningen managed to equalise just before the half time interval thanks to a goal from Florian Kruger.
Dennis van der Ree's men still stay in the bottom three as a result, but they are in the relegation play-off spots instead of an automatic one.
The gap is also just three points on the 15th-placed Emmen too, while they also have a game in hand on Emmen.
Gronigen have also lost to Feyenoord and Excelsior in the league since action resumed after the World Cup, while even Spakenburg in the KNVB second round managed to edge past them in a 3-2 win to send the Eredivisie side out of the competition
Cambuur were also knocked out of their KNVB Cup second round battle to De Treffers.
Combine this with losses to Volendam and Sparta Rotterdam and it means just one draw against Emmen to boast about for the Yellow-Blues in 2023.
Their gap on the safe spot in 15th is still six points too, and Forebet predicts another loss for Cambuur and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
Cambuur’s goalscoring record may be the worst in the league with a terrible nine so far, but they can at least boast of a decent defensive record.
