Real Oviedo will host La Liga 2 rival Granada at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium on Thursday night in the Copa del Rey second round. The Segunda teams both entered the competition in the first round, achieving progression with wins.
Granada picked up a 3-2 away win against Yeclano to start off the Copa del Rey tournament. Although the score looks close, Granada were up 3-0 after 65 minutes thanks to goals from Ignasi Miquel, Ricard Sanchez, and Jorge Molina.

Real Oviedo needed penalties to see off Gimnastica to reach the second round of the Copa del Rey. Los Azules led 2-0 after 50 minutes thanks to two goals from Borja Baston. However, Oviedo allowed Gimnastica to come back, scoring twice in the final 36 minutes.
The match went to extra time where Real Oviedo’s Marco Sangalli scored the third goal to send the team into the second round. The game ended 3-2 as Real Oviedo got a scare from Gimnastica.
Real Oviedo and Granada met previously in La Liga 2 this season. Oviedo produced a 1-0 home win thanks to a second-half goal from Sergi Enrich. Los Azules played over 50 minutes of the match with just 10 men and came out on top.
Granada go into the cup fixture in good form. Los Rojiblancos are unbeaten in three of their last four games in all competitions. Granada are coming off a 1-0 loss away to Lugo in the league in a six-point promotion playoff affair.
Real Oviedo are unbeaten in seven of their last eight games in all competitions. Like Granada, Oviedo go into the Copa del Rey second round in good form. Los Azules have a home record of 5W-2D-4L this season with seven goals for and seven against.
Granada have not played well on the road. However, Granada are unbeaten in three of their last five games against Real Oviedo in all competitions.
Manager Alvaro Cervera of Real Oviedo could be without two players due to injuries. Midfielders Javi Mier and Angel Montoro are both nursing injuries and could be rested.
Granada manager Paco Lopez will be without forward Antonio Puertas due to a broken rib. Defender Ruben Rochina could join Puertas on the sidelines due to a muscle strain.
Neither team will play in the league until early January, giving both managers the chance to play strong squads.
Granada should overcome Real Oviedo in the cup after having a stronger performance in the previous round. This should be low scoring with Granada prevailing 1-0.
