On Saturday evening, Villarreal B and Tenerife clash in the Spanish Segunda Division as the visitors attempt to avoid being sucked into the relegation zone.
The home team is currently in ninth place in the Segunda Division, four points off the play-off spots. However, even if Villarreal B did earn a play-off spot, they wouldn’t be allowed to compete in La Liga due to their B team status. Miguel Alvarez’s team has been the definition of inconsistent of late in the Segunda Division, winning two, losing two and drawing two of their last six league outings.
However, Villarreal B have a stellar recent home record in the Spanish second tier. They are unbeaten in nine league games on home soil, having recorded six victories in the process.
They have also kept clean sheets in four of their last six home games in the Segunda Division.
The Islanders are in 15th place in the Segunda Division table, just five points clear of the relegation zone. Their recent form has been mixed. However, a 2-1 win over Alaves last time out ended a short two-game losing run for Luis Miguel Ramis’ team in the Spanish second tier.
Despite that recent inconsistent form, Tenerife still heads into this game on the back of five defeats in their last eight outings in the Segunda Division.
Tenerife have been poor travellers of late in the Spanish second tier, winning just one of their last ten away games in the league.
They have also suffered defeat in three of their previous four away matches.
