Udinese are eyeing up a place further up the Serie A table ahead of playing hosts to a struggling Lecce side at the Dacia Arena in the midst of the worst run of form for Udinese in 2022/23 following on from a magical beginning to the latest campaign.
The sensational start to the season for Udinese saw them climb to as high as third in the table in the early stages, but after such a great opening few games in Serie A, they have struggled since the international break. In fact, the start of the campaign saw them drop points in just two of the first eight games of the season, defeating Roma 4-0 and Inter Milan 3-1.
Now, however, Udinese have gone on to win just one game since beating Inter and it’s now five games without a victory for them.
On the other hand, the Udine side did manage to secure commendable draws against two title contenders, Atalanta and Lazio, so there is something to shout about at least during this poor run of form.
At the same time, they lost in the Coppa Italia second round clash to Serie A strugglers Monza 3-2 at the Dacia Arena, before a recent 2-1 loss in the league to Torino.What’s more, Udinese have fallen deeper down the table and into eighth after drawing with Cremonese too.
Lecce also dropped points last time out, losing once again to extend their winless run to five games just like their opposition on Friday night.
However, Lecce did beat Salernitana just prior to the international break, but Cremonese would draw with them shortly after to force two more dropped points, before Roma beat them 2-1 and registered another draw with Fiorentina.
The club have also lost their past two games, with Bologna and Juventus beating them by a 2-0 and 1-0 margin, respectively, meaning two more games without a goal for Lecce too.
Forebet predicts Udinese to get back to winning ways here and move back up the table ahead of the World Cup break. If the club can start to find the form they showed at the start of the season, then these types of games should be easy for them to win.
Forebet also predicts the game to see over 2.5 goals, as Lecce’s defence continues to be a serious problem for them in 2022/23. A loss could also send Lecce into the relegation zone once more.
