Empoli will host Atalanta on Sunday in Serie A’s early kick-off. The Azzurri are seeking a second straight win against Atalanta in Serie A after last season’s 1-0 victory in Bergamo.
Atalanta lost for the first time this season on matchday 10, as Lazio went to Bergamo and left with a 2-0 victory.

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s team is in a title fight this season and the loss to Lazio dropped Atalanta to fourth place.
La Dea are five points behind first-place Napoli ahead of the trip to Empoli. Serie A’s title race is extremely competitive this season with just 10 points separating Napoli in first place and Juventus in eighth place.
Empoli go into Sunday’s early fixture in 12th place in the Serie A table. The Azzurri took just seven points from the last six games in Serie A. Empoli are playing 50/50 football, which is good enough to finish midtable.
The Azzurri are doing just enough to not be sucked into a relegation fight. However, they aren’t doing enough to get into the top eight. Empoli were outscored 10-5 across their last six games in the Italian top flight.
Empoli have been woeful at home this season with just one win from five games. Only four goals were scored in Empoli’s five home fixtures.
Atalanta picked up 11 points from the last six games in Serie A. Goals are not following from Gasperini’s team, as the squad scored just seven goals in the last six fixtures. Atalanta allowed only six goals to opponents.
La Dea are Serie A’s second-best away team. They are unbeaten on the road with 13 points from 15 on offer. Atalanta scored 14 times and conceded just five goals to their five opponents away from the Gewiss Stadium.
Gasperini will be without striker Luis Muriel, who is suspended for the fixture. Muriel has shockingly scored a mere one Serie A goal this term. Midfielders Marten De Roon and David Zappacosta are both ruled out through injury.
Empoli coach Paolo Zanetti could be without three players for the fixture. Alberto Grassi has an unidentified injury, while defenders Ardian Ismajli and Lorenzo Tonelli are both ruled out until November with leg issues.
Atalanta lost to Lazio on matchday 10 but should rebound with a resounding win versus Empoli. La Dea should find the goals and win 3-0 to remain in the Serie A title fight.
