The midweek action in the Premier League takes us to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, as Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur.

The two sides are separated by seven points in the table, with third-place Tottenham leading fifth-place Man Utd. It is worth noting, however, that United have a game in hand.

Can the Red Devils get a positive result on home soil? Or will Spurs widen the gap between them and Erik ten Hag’s side?

Man Utd head into Wednesday’s clash on the back of a goalless draw with Newcastle United, despite racking up 63% possession and 15 shots.

As a result, they are enjoying a four-game unbeaten streak across all competitions – having picked up three wins and one draw since their last loss.

When you look at the bigger picture, ten Hag’s men have won five of their nine Premier League clashes this season.

However, they are the only team in the top nine with a negative goal difference after scoring 13 and conceding 15. Needless to say, they will be eager to change that.

As for Tottenham, they have only lost one of their ten Premier League matches this season – securing seven wins and two draws in the process.

Spurs kicked off their campaign with a seven-game unbeaten streak before losing to Arsenal. However, they have since picked up back-to-back clean-sheet victories.

It is worth noting that Antonio Conte’s side have won four of their previous five league outings, scoring 12 goals along the way.

Only one side – Newcastle – has conceded fewer Premier League goals than Tottenham this term. Can Conte’s boys keep another clean sheet at Old Trafford?

Head-to-head: Man Utd have won all of their last three Premier League meetings with Tottenham, scoring exactly three goals on each occasion.

When you look at the bigger picture, Spurs have only managed to win one of their previous seven league clashes against United – suffering five defeats in the process.

Team news: Man Utd’s injury list features Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Scott McTominay returns from suspension.

As for Tottenham, they look set be without the injured quartet of Emerson Royal, Dejan Kulusevski, Japhet Tanganga and Richarlison on Wednesday.

Although Spurs have made an impressive start to the season, it is difficult to ignore Man Utd’s recent results in the fixture.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Manchester United will edge Tottenham at Old Trafford – with the home side keeping a clean sheet.
