Arsenal will be looking to hold onto top spot in the Premier League table when they welcome Liverpool to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

With eight games in the books, the Gunners find themselves one point clear of second-place Manchester City and four points above third-place Tottenham.

As for Liverpool, they are languishing in ninth place – 11 points below Arsenal. Although the Reds have a game in hand, they are a fair way behind Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal have won seven of their eight Premier League outings this season, suffering a solitary defeat along the way.

Not only are they the second-highest scorers in the division (20), but they also boast one of the best defensive records (8).

Gabriel Jesus has already bagged five goals and three assists in the Premier League, while Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard have both scored three goals.

It is also worth noting that Arsenal have scored over 1.5 goals in all seven of their Premier League wins this season.

On the flip side, Liverpool have only managed to win two of their seven Premier League matches this term – recording four draws and one loss in the process.

Only the top three sides have scored more goals than Jurgen Klopp’s men, while only four teams have conceded fewer goals.

When you look at the bigger picture, Liverpool have lost just six of their previous 74 encounters across all competitions.

Having secured a dominant 2-0 victory over Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday, the Reds will be confident of frustrating Arsenal this weekend.

Head-to-head: Arsenal have only managed to win one of their past 14 Premier League meetings with Liverpool, suffering nine defeats along the way.

Not only have Liverpool won each of the last four league meetings between the teams, but they have also won six of the previous seven.

Team news: Arsenal will be without the injured duo of Emile Smith Rose and Mohamed Elneny for the visit of Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Klopp’s side currently have four injury absentees – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Andrew Robertson and Curtis Jones.

Despite Arsenal’s impressive recent form, there is no hiding the fact that Liverpool have dominated this fixture in recent years.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Liverpool will frustrate Arsenal on Sunday – with a low-scoring draw looking like the most probable result.
