We have two full rounds of Nations League fixtures this coming week, including the meeting between Czech Republic and Portugal.

The game will be played at the Generali Arena and the hosts begin the game in third place in League A, Group 2 on 4 points while the visitors are in second place on 7 points.

Czech Republic come into the match having previously lost 2-0 at Spain in the Nations League.

It was always going to be a tough ask to take anything from the game and Spain opened the scoring in the 24th minute and added a second goal with 15 minutes remaining on the clock.

That was the second successive defeat in the group for Czech Republic, who lost 2-0 in the reverse fixture against Portugal. Both goals were scored in the space of 5 minutes towards the end of the first half.

The two away defeats were disappointing for Czech Republic, who made a solid start to their 2022/23 Nations League campaign.

They defeated Switzerland 2-1 at home in their opening fixture and followed that with a 2-2 draw at home against Spain. The Spanish scored an equalising goal in the final minute of the match.

Trends show Czech Republic are undefeated in their last 4 home Nations League games. They have won 4 of their 7 home Nations League fixtures but have not beaten a team of Portugal’s quality.

The Portuguese travel to Prague on the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat in Switzerland. The Swiss scored the only goal of the game in the first minute and despite having plenty of time to get back into the match, Portugal could not find the back of the net.

Portugal started their Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw in Spain, scoring the equalising goal in the 82nd minute.

They recorded back to back home wins over Switzerland and Czech Republic before suffering the defeat to the Swiss.

Trends show Portugal are undefeated in 6 of their 7 away Nations League games. They have beat Poland, Sweden, and Croatia on the road plus picked up a point at Italy, France, and Spain. In Portugal's last 3 away games in all competitions there have been under 2.5 goals scored.

Team news and Czech Republic have an inexperienced attack, with the Adam Hložek, Jan Kuchta, Václav Jurečka, and Stanislav Tecl having only 43 caps between them. Midfielder Tomáš Souček is the most experienced player in the squad.

Portugal have some exciting attacking talent in their squad, with Cristiano Ronaldo joined by Digo Jota, João Félix, Rafael Leão, and Pedro Neto. Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva are creative players in midfield.

On paper, this should be a comfortable win for Portugal, who have superior players in every department. If at their best, Portugal should win this game and could keep a clean sheet in the process with under 2.5 goals scored.
