The UEFA Nations League returns this week. On Thursday, Croatia and Denmark go head-to-head in Zagreb. Who will come out on top in the Group A clash?

As we head into Matchday 5, Denmark find themselves atop Group A – two points clear of second-place Croatia.

Believe it or not, last-place France trail third-place Austria by two points. Could the reigning World Cup champions really suffer Nations League relegation?

Croatia have registered two wins, one draw and one loss during the Nations League campaign. Funnily enough, the have scored three goals and conceded four.

After losing 3-0 to Austria on Matchday 1, the Croatians drew 1-1 with France before beating Denmark 1-0. Last time out, they defeat France 1-0 in Paris.

Since October 2021, Croatia have suffered just one defeat in ten games across all competitions (including friendlies).

Not only have Croatia won six of their previous ten encounters, but they have also kept four clean sheets in the process.

As for Denmark, they are unbeaten in the Nations League – having claimed three wins and one draw during the current campaign.

After securing back-to-back 2-1 victories over France and Austria, the Danes lost 1-0 to Croatia before bouncing back with a 2-0 win against the Austrians.

Across the past 12 months, Denmark have won seven of their ten games across all competitions (including friendlies).

After reaching the semi-finals of last summer’s European Championship, Denmark completed an eye-catching World Cup qualification campaign – winning nine of their ten clashes.

Head-to-head: As we already know, Croatia claimed a 1-0 victory over Denmark back in June – extending their winning streak to three games in this fixture.

Croatia have won four of their seven meetings with Denmark over the years, recording one draw and two losses along the way.

Team news: Croatia’s squad is stacked with big-name stars, including Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic, Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic.

Denmark have plenty of standout names in their squad, too, including Christian Eriksen, Andreas Christensen, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Thomas Delaney.

With only two points separating first-place Denmark and second-place Croatia in Group A, Thursday’s clash is destined to be a close-fought battle between two evenly matches sides.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Croatia and Denmark will play out a low-scoring draw – with both team scoring under 1.5 goals.
