Monaco look set for success at lowly Reims

The Stade Auguste-Delaune II is the venue for this upcoming French Ligue 1 clash between Reims and Monaco on Sunday lunchtime with the hosts sitting perched just above the early relegation zone.

Monaco, on the other hand, find themselves in 7th place but eagerly anticipating a place in the top five by the end of this weekend’s action in the French top flight.

Reims have found life tough going so far in this new Ligue 1 campaign as the hosts have mustered just one win to date this term which came in the form of a 4-2 win away from home at Angers but three defeats and three draws have prevented Reims from lifting themselves further away from the bottom four.

The visitors had previously posted three wins on the trot though, picking up important victories against Nice and Lyon in the domestic top flight along with a 1-0 win away at Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League in between times.

Recent results have produced a mixed bag of returns for Monaco though as the visitors have captured just four wins from their last 14 matches overall in all competitions but in Ligue 1, the principality have suffered just two losses in their previous 17 games; in addition, Monaco have won 12 of these games too.

Results away from home have also been solid where Monaco have been concerned as the visitors are unbeaten in their last eight games on the road, picking up six wins in the process, so they look far more likely to grab the three points in this upcoming encounter.

Monaco have lost just one of the previous eight encounters against Reims and the visitors should be able to extend their dominance over their hosts again on Sunday as well.
