Fiorentina and Hellas Verona will both be aiming to kick-start their Serie A campaigns when they go head-to-head in Central Italy on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides find themselves in the bottom half of the table after six games, with eleventh-place Fiorentina leading fourteenth-place Verona by a solitary point.

Of course, it is still early days. But given that both teams could drop into the relegation zone this weekend, they will both be desperate to claim all three points in Florence.

Fiorentina have only managed to win one of their six Serie A games this season, registering three draws and two losses.

Following a 3-2 victory over Cremonese on the opening weekend, Fiorentina have chalked up a five-game winless run.

That said, Fiorentina can take confidence from the fact that they have lost just one of their previous 11 Serie A clashes on home soil.

On Thursday, Fiorentina suffered a 3-0 thrashing against Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Europa Conference League – with Jonathan Ikone seeing a red card.

Like Fiorentina, Verona have also managed to pick up a solitary victory in their first six league games this term. However, they have claimed two draws and three defeats.

Verona were thrashed 5-2 by Napoli on Matchday 1 before record two draws and one loss. After beating Sampdoria 2-1 on Matchday 5, they returned to losing ways against Lazio last weekend.

Following a poor end to the previous campaign, Verona head into Sunday’s clash on a run of two wins in 11 Serie A away games.

Having conceded 11 league goals already this season, only last-place Monza have a worse defensive record than Verona.

Head-to-head: Believe it or not, four of the past five Serie A meetings between Fiorentina and Verona have ended 1-1.

Verona have only managed to win two of their previous ten league encounters with Fiorentina, although five of those games ended all square.

Team news: Fiorentina’s lengthy injury list contains Gaetano Castrovilli, Alfred Duncan, Nicolas Gonzlez and Nikola Milenkovic.

By contrast, Verona have no fresh injury worries – meaning head coach Gabriele Cioffi has a full-strength squad at his disposal.

Given that four of the previous five league meetings between Fiorentina and Verona have ended 1-1, Sunday’s clash is destined to be a low-scoring draw.

Forebet predicts that Fiorentina and Verona will play out a dull stalemate, with both team netting under 1.5 goals.
