Unai Emery is shooting for a third straight win and the chance to remain at the top of the La Liga table after three matchdays.
Getafe started the season with a 3-0 loss to Atletico Madrid before losing 3-1 to newly-promoted Girona on matchday No. 2.
The defeat to Girona was damning as Getafe are expected to battle Girona in the relegation fight this term. Girona were only just promoted from Ligue 2.
Villarreal started the new season with a 3-0 away win at Real Valladolid. The victory over the newly-promoted side was backed up by a 2-0 victory at Atletico Madrid.
Defeating a newly-promoted team was expected, but the victory to nil over Atletico Madrid has turned heads. Expectations could grow over a top-four finish with a win against Getafe.
Villarreal could still be in for some shake-ups this summer, however. The Yellow Submarine may need to sell a player or two before the transfer window closes next week.
Getafe have struggled against Villarreal in the teams’ last six head-to-head matches. Los Azulone have a record of 0W-0D-6L in the last six matches with Villarreal in all competitions.
Villarreal outscored Getafe 11-2 in the last six games with 26 combined yellow cards and five red cards.
Getafe failed to score in their last four home matches in La Liga. Villarreal have not conceded a goal this season and based on history, it is unlikely that they will allow Getafe to score this weekend.
Emery has two players on the Villarreal injury list heading into the game. Defender Alberto Moreno continues to suffer from injury and is set to miss the game thanks to a ligament problem. Midfielder Manu Trigueros is also ruled out with a ligament problem.
Martinez will be without Fabricio Angileri due to a suspension. Luis Milla is ruled out with a hamstring problem. Defender Damian Suarez has a hamstring injury and will miss the game as well.
Villarreal have a brilliant head-to-head record against Getafe and go into the game winners of two straight La Liga games. The Yellow Submarine should post a win with under 2.5 goals scored. Expect another Villarreal win to nil.
