There’s action from the Portuguese top flight on Monday evening and features this upcoming clash between Vitoria Guimaraes and Casa Pia when the two teams meet at the Estádio Dom Afonso Henriques with the hosts seeking to return to winning ways.
Vitoria Guimaraes had started this new Liga Portugal campaign in impressive fashion as the hosts had posted back to back wins against Chaves 1-0 away from home before winning 1-0 at home against Estoril, but then suffered defeat on the road last time out at Portimonense.

Nevertheless, Guimaraes have produced some solid performances lately in the Portuguese top flight.
They have lost just one of their previous eight games overall and have collected wins against Pacos Ferreira and Gil Vicente prior to this new season.
Results on home soil have also been fairly consistent as Vitoria Guimaraes have suffered just three defeats out of their last 14 games at their Estádio Dom Afonso Henriques, a sequence that also includes nine wins as well, so the hosts look in good shape to add to their points tally on Monday evening.
Casa Pia have produced a mixed bag of results in this, their first ever season in the Portuguese top flight.
The visitors picked up a point in their season opener away at Santa Clara by virtue of a dour 0-0 draw but then rather predictably, lost 1-0 at home to Benfica in their following match.
However, Casa Pia returned home in last weekend’s fixture against Boavista and the newcomers posted a solid and welcome 2-0 home win to give them a timely boost ahead of this upcoming trip to face their more established hosts, Vitoria Guimaraes.
This looks like being a tough campaign indeed though for Casa Pia and much will depend upon how they acquit themselves on the road this season.
The visitors look to gain a foothold in the Liga Portugal this term and consolidate their domestic top flight status.
As Casa Pia’s previous exposure in the Portuguese top flight has been very limited, there is not much in the way of previous head-to-heads against their hosts, Vitoria Guimaraes in terms of league meetings.
But their only previous encounter was in the form of a League Cup clash which Vitoria Guimaraes won 1-0 away from home last August.
On home soil, Vitoria Guimaraes should take the spoils in this one.
