The Serie A champions will kick off their new title defence with the hosting of Udinese at the San Siro as AC Milan look to kick on from their sensational campaign last time out which saw them snatch the title from rivals Inter.

Milan managed to beat their city rivals to the Serie A title by just two points and snatch the title away from Inter in the process.

The league winners finished on 86 points last time out, in what was a fantastic campaign for the club.

They were backed in by many to win the title, but led by Stefano Pioli, the team were exceptional throughout the 38 games.

The club’s squad depth and mix of experience and youth was the perfect formula for Milan winning back the Serie A title for the first time in a decade, and now it's whether or not they can continue to move forward here after losing the likes of Franck Kessie.

Pioli has managed to bring in 21-year-old Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge into the midfield, while also adding Divock Origi and Junior Messias from Crotone to the forward line. Alessandro Florenzi is a fantastic signing from Roma, however, and it does look as if Milan have had good business in the summer.

The main concern heading into the new Serie A season for the defending champions is the goals. They have managed to keep hold of stars like Rafael Leao.

Although with Oliver Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic heading closer towards the ends of their career, goals could be harder to come by now especially with Romelu Lukaku returning to Inter.

Milan scored only 69 goals compared to Inter's 84 last season.

On the other hand, with 26 wins in the league for the champions, just four defeats, and the league's best defensive record with only 31 goals let in, they were well deserving of the title.

As for Udinese, for them it is merely about getting back into the top 10 this season.

The club won just 11 games last time out, and with Udinese also conceding 58 goals, it's set to be a big season for them with no top 10 finish for the past eight seasons now.

Milan, especially as they are at home, should get all three points on the opening weekend of their title defence. Forebet predicts a win for the champions and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
