They haven’t featured in the Dutch top-flight since the 2018/19 season, when they actually won their last two games of the campaign, despite eventually suffering relegation.
It might not mean much, but the opening gameweek victory means that Excelsior has now scored at least two goals in their last three Eredivisie games.
Excelsior finished last season with an inconsistent run of home form in the second tier, winning just one of their final six matches of the league campaign on home soil.
