Hull City have high expectations heading into the EFL Championship season and anything less than a top-six finish will be seen as a failure. Bristol City had a disappointing 2021-22 finishing 17th in the division.
Robins' manager Nigel Pearson will be under plenty of pressure this campaign after such a disappointing campaign last time out. Bookies do not fancy either of these sides to win the Championship and both are long shots to earn promotion to the Premier League.

Hull City hired Shota Arveladze midway through the season after sacking Grant McCann. He posted a 6W-4D-9L record with the Tigers after taking over as manager.
The Tigers have had plenty of turnover in the offseason with nine players arriving and 13 players leaving. One of the biggest names to leave the MKM Stadium was midfielder George Honeyman. Exciting young forward Kean Lewis-Potter joined Brentford on transfer and midfielder Tom Huddlestone was released.
Hull City struggled at home last term posting a record of 7W-4D-12L and a goal difference of –6. The Tigers have an awful record against Bristol City in the teams’ last six head-to-head matches.
Bristol City have a record of 4W-2D-0L against Hull City in their last six matches. The Robins posted a 2-2 away draw last term before winning 5-0 at Ashton Gate in the reverse fixture. The last four matches between these clubs finished with over 2.5 goals. Four of the last five games saw both teams score.
Pearson and company have not been too busy in the transfer window bringing in fresh talent. The Robins have signed Kane Wilson from Forest Green Rovers. He will take a step up from League Two.
Kai Naismith joined from Luton Town and could start at left-back. Mark Sykes signed from Oxford United on a free transfer and is in line to start in midfield. The club sold Kasey Palmer to Championship rival Coventry City in the offseason.
Pearson was able to retain last season’s top scorer Andreas Wiemann. He bagged 22 goals and added 10 assists.
The loss of Lewis-Potter is massive for Hull City. He scored 12 league goals last term and was the only Hull City player to get double digit goals. The Tigers should struggle early on in the final third.
On Saturday, Bristol City should post a win against Hull City away from home. The Robins should post a 1-2 win which occurred 7.9% of the time in the Championship last term. Wiemann could get on the scoresheet for the Robins.
