Borussia Dortmund will kick off the Edin Terzic era with a DFB Pokal first round fixture against 3 Liga club TSV 1860 Munchen.
The former Bundesliga great, 1860 Munchen, find themselves in the third division of German football. The Lions are major underdogs going into the match with the high-powered Borussia Dortmund.

Terzic and company have spent heavily this offseason with the aim of battling Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title to the very final day of the campaign.
Dortmund have already signed Niklas Sule, Nico Schlotterbeck, Karim Adeyemi, Salih Ozcan, and Sebastien Haller on big-money transfers. Unfortunately, Haller will play no part after a testicular tumour was discovered. He is set to miss “several months” of football.
Terzic is likely to play a strong squad against 1860 Munchen. Borussia Dortmund were beaten in the third round of the DFB Pokal last season which came just months after the Black and Yellow won the trophy in 2020-21.
1860 Munchen are coached by Michael Kollner, who has been in charge of the club since 2019. The Lions are coming off of a 7-0 win in the Bavarian Cup on July 26. Kollner deployed the side in a 4-1-4-1 formation for the match.
Forward Meris Skenderovic scored five goals in the win against Rodelmaier. As long as players are fit, Kollner will likely pick the same squad. Players Yannick Deichmann and Joseph Boyamba are both nursing injuries and could miss out.
Dortmund are coming off of back-to-back friendly defeats against Valencia and Villarreal. Just one goal, a Marco Reus penalty, was scored in those two friendlies.
Terzic could start the match with the team’s new-look defence featuring Sule and Schlotterbeck as centre-backs. Adeyemi could start in attack. Summer signing Ozcan could miss the match due to a lack of match fitness.
Matches between 1860 Munchen and Borussia Dortmund have been few and far between in recent seasons. The clubs have not met since 2016 in a club friendly. There are no trends between these teams.
Borussia Dortmund will begin the Bundesliga season the week following their DFB first round DFB Pokal match with 1860 Munchen. Terzic will use the match with 1860 Munchen as one part friendly-one part competitive fixture.
Dortmund should have no problem easing past third division 1860 Munchen. The Yellow and Black should cruise to a 3-0 win against the Lions in the first round of the DFB Pokal.
