Fortuna Dusseldorf picked up a 2-1 win away to Magdeburg on matchday No. 1 of the Bundesliga 2 season. Now, Die Roten will host SC Paderborn 07 on matchday No. 2 on Friday night.

The visitors, Paderborn, are unbeaten in three straight games versus Fortuna Dusseldorf. Last season, Paderborn won 3-2 at Fortuna Dusseldorf before picking up a 1-1 home draw versus Die Roten in the Bundesliga 2.
Paderborn’s 5-0 win against Karlsruher on matchday No. 1 of the season saw five different goalscorers get on the scoresheet. Florent Musliija started the scoring in the 56th minute from the penalty spot.
Further goals were scored by Robert Leipertz, Julian Justvan, Felix Platte, and Sirlord Conteh. All five goals came in the game’s final 34 minutes.
Fortuna Dusseldorf’s 2-1 win against Magdeburg came courtesy of goals from Rouwen Hennings and Felix Klaus. Hennings goal came in the 43rd minute from the penalty spot. One minute after the restart, Klaus scored from open play.
Magdeburg’s Connor Krempicki pulled a goal back on 50 minutes to make the game a thrill over the final 40 minutes. Fortuna Dusseldorf will be hoping to continue their good start, but their recent record versus Paderborn isn’t good.
Fortuna do have a record of 2W-2D-2L versus Paderborn. As previously written, Paderborn are unbeaten in three straight matches versus Fortuna.
Eleven players were signed by Paderborn ahead of the new season. Based on the team’s 5-0 win against Karlsruher, it is unlikely Kwasniok will change much for Friday’s trip to Dusseldorf. Platte should start in attack with Conteh once more in Paderborn’s 3-1-4-2 formation.
Fortuna coach Daniel Thioune is likely to use a 4-4-2 formation once more. Hennings is in line to start in attack once more with Dawid Kownacki. Jordy de Wijs could start in defence as Christoph Klarer may have picked up an injury versus Magdeburg.
Defender Mathias Zimmermann are both set to miss the game. Forward Nana Ampomah is also likely to miss out.
Although Fortuna had a great start to the season, Paderborn are playing well against them in head-to-head matches. This should be a close fixture with Paderborn picking up a 2-1 win at full-time to stay top of the table.
