The Peruvian top flight moves into round No. 2 of the Clausura season on Friday as Deportivo Municipal host Cienciano. The visitors are coming off of a strong performance last time out.
Cienciano claimed a 2-0 win versus Unversidad Cesar Vallejo. Danilo Carando scored in the 37 minute to put Cienciano on top and Adrian Ugarriza added a second just after halftime to put the game away.

Deportivo Municipal picked up a point on matchday No. 1 thanks to a 1-1 draw with Ayacucho FC. Municipal trailed late in the game until Emiliano Ciucci scored in the dying seconds of second-half stoppage-time.
The Clausura is in its early stages and teams are still finding their feet after the Apertura. Cienciano had an excellent Apertura campaign, finishing fifth in the table and going unbeaten in their final three games.
Deportivo Municipal started the Clausura in the same fashion as they ended the Aperture. Municipal were winless in their final three matches of the Apertura campaign. Manager Hernan Lisi will be desperate to get the team back to winning ways.
The last six matches between these Peruvian rivals have been close. Cienciano just edged the head-to-head against Deportivo Municipal with a record of 3W-1D-2L. Their Apertura fixture was won by Cienciano 4-2.
The fixture, which was played in February, saw Cienciano put the game away after 77 minutes. Ugarizza scored to open things up for Cienciano in the 25th minute.
Cienciano doubled their lead on 64 minutes thanks to Fernando Guerrero. Guerrero added another goal just 13 minutes later.
Deportivo Municipal finally got onto the scoresheet with six minutes left to play as Roberto Ovelar scored a penalty. Cienciano got another goal in second-half stoppage-time as Carlos Javier Beltran Neroni scored a fourth for the team.
Municipal once again pulled a goal back. Ovelar added a second to his tally in the fourth minute of stoppage-time. The game ended 4-2 with Deportivo on the back foot throughout.
Cienciano captain Ugarizza is in good form against Deportivo Municipal. He scored in the reverse fixture and goes into the match on Friday having bagged a goal on matchday No. 1 versus Universidad Cesar Vallejo. The 25-year-old centre-forward will fancy his chances of another goal.
The last two matches between these teams finished with over 3.5 goals. Friday’s Clausura clash will once again finish with more than 3.5 goals as Cienciano claim another victory. Ugarizza could get on the scoresheet once more for the visitors.
