Everton face West Ham on Sunday in the Premier League at Goodison Park. Until last season Everton were the Irons bogey team. However, Slaven Bilic’s side took four points from the Merseysider’s last season and won 3-2 at Goodison Park.
The Hammers record may have improved slightly against Everton last season, but Toffees striker Romelu Lukaku remained a thorn in the Irons side. The big Belgian striker has now scored eight times in his last eight appearances for the Toffees against the Londoners. The 23-year-old even missed a penalty kick against the Irons last season in the 3-2 loss.
It’s fair to say that the sight of Lukaku must send chills down the back of West Ham fans spines. Despite much speculation about his future in the summer, the striker has stayed at Everton and has been in stellar form this season.
The Belgium international has scored six times in his eight Premier League appearances this season. It would be a brave man to back against the striker adding to his goal tally on Sunday.
West Ham’s poor early season form now seems a thing of the past. The Hammers have won three consecutive games in all competitions, keeping clean sheets in all three encounters. Slaven Bilic’s team certainly present a far more difficult challenge than they would have done a few weeks ago.
Everton striker Lukaku is a highly confident individual and will have his sights set on helping his side to their first win in six games in all competitions. Lukaku has developed a good understanding with summer signing Yannick Bolasie.
The pair have combined for four goals in the Premier League this season, which is the highest tally of any pair in the English top-flight. The pair will be hoping to combine successfully once again as the men from Merseyside look to end their poor recent run of form.
