On Friday night, Dinamo kick-off their defence of the Croatian title by hosting Lokomotiva Zagreb, in a capital city derby match.
The home side are reigning champions having won their 23rd top-flight Croatian title. They finished seven points ahead of second-place Hadjuk Split. Since the season finished, Dinamo are unbeaten in four matches in all competitions. That record includes winning the Croatian Super Cup on penalty kicks after a goalless draw with rivals Hadjuk.

The champions finished last season with a five-game unbeaten run in the league, having recorded four wins in the process. They also proved to be prolific in their latter league games, as Dinamo scored at least two goals in their last three games in the HNL.
Dinamo also finished their league campaign on home soil in a strong fashion, as they are unbeaten in nine home matches, having recorded eight victories in the process. Their potent attack proved vital in those home wins, as Dinamo scored at least two goals in all those recent home wins.
The visitors finished fifth place last season in the Croatian top-flight. They ended last season in slightly inconsistent form in the HNL, although they did lose just one of their final eight league matches. Four of Lokomotiva’s last seven league games finished in draws.
Their end-of-season league matches offered excellent value for money when it came to goals, as seven of their last ten games in the HNL produced over 2.5 goals.
The visitors were not great travellers towards the end of the HNL season, as they won just once in 12 away games in the Croatian top-flight.
