Two sides aiming to return to the win column this weekend will clash as Club Atlético Lanús make the trip to Santa Fe where Club Atlético Unión awaits them with just one position in the table separating either side after five games.
Union have had a topsy-turvy time in their past five games to start this campaign in the Argentine top flight. Boca Juniors fell to a stunning defeat on home soil to them in the last game, as Daniel Jaurez and Franco Troyansky scored a goal each, which included a stunning 95+15th minute penalty to win the game.
Stunningly, Troyansky was also sent off after that penalty with the scenes turning quite ugly deep in extra, and he will now miss this game here. Prior to the Boca Juniors win, however, Union played hosts to giants River Plate, and they were rapidly brought back down to earth in a stunning 5-1 loss on home soil.
The club returned back to the losing column in midweek as well, with Nacional beating them 2-0 in the Copa Sudamericana round of 16 first leg, which now means they will have one eye on the second leg fixture coming up in four days time.
All in all, Union sit down in 18th with two wins and two losses in Argentina so far, along with one draw. This also brings in a relatively decent record of 11 goals conceded and eight scored early on, which over time, will need to be improved on.
Lanus are in even worse form, however, with them now on a losing run of two games following on from their own first leg loss in the Copa Sudamericana, where Independiente del Valle defeated them 2-1.
River Plate also beat them 2-1 back in the league just a few days prior, which means their 1-0 victory over Colon remains their only one in the league so far, with their only other victories in the 2022 season coming in the Copa Sudamericana group stages
These two are very closely matched on all fronts right now, and all signs look to be pointing to a score draw. Forebet predicts a draw here and for the game to see over 2.5 goals in what has been a star to the Argentine Primera Division that has been filled with draws.
