On Saturday night, Sligo Rovers host Shelbourne at the Showgrounds in a game between two of the Irish Premier Division’s midtable teams.
Rovers are in fifth place in the table after an inconsistent league campaign. They are currently eight points adrift of the European spots and need to find some consistency if they are to move into the league’s top three.

Sligo has at least found a tad more consistency of late, as they are unbeaten in their last four games in the Premier Division. However, they have also won just two of their previous nine matches in the Irish top flight. They have also kept back-to-back clean sheets in the league.
Sligo’s recent home record in the Irish Premier Division is decent, as Rovers are unbeaten in their last six league matches on home soil, recording three wins and three draws. They have also been relatively prolific on home soil, scoring at least two goals in four of those six unbeaten games.
Like their hosts, Shelbourne has struggled to find any consistency in their performances this season. The visitors are in seventh place in the table, four points behind Sligo.
A three-game winless league run has not helped Damien Duff’s side's chances of moving up the table. However, a 0-0 draw against Dundalk last time out was a creditable result, which ended a short two-game losing streak.
The game continued a run of low-scoring league games for Shelbourne, as five of their last six matches in the Premier Division have produced under 2.5 goals. It also saw the visitor's goal drought continue, as they have now failed to score in three league matches.
