Wednesday evening brings us action from the Egyptian Premier league and this upcoming clash between high-flying Al Ahly and their basement dwelling visitors, Eastern Company (or also known as El Sharqia), when the two teams meet at the Cairo International Stadium.
Al Ahly currently occupy 3rd place in the Egyptian top flight standings and find themselves six points behind 2nd placed Pyramids and an automatic place in next season’s CAF Champions League, but all three points on Wednesday night would see this deficit slashed to just a three-point margin.

It’s been a successful campaign so far for Al Ahly as the hosts have suffered just the single defeat to date in this Premier League term which was a 1-0 loss away at Al Masry but on the flip side, Al Ahly have registered an impressive 11 wins from their total of 16 matches played so far this season.
Form on home soil has also been impressive as Al Ahly have won six out of their seven home games which also includes six clean sheets as well.
Onto Eastern Company (El Sharqia), and by contrast, the visitors have had a torrid time of it in the Egyptian top flight so far this season as they find themselves bottom of the pile and five points adrift of fourth from bottom outfit, Al Mokawloon, and safety with a tough looking trip to Al Ahly on Wednesday night.
Eastern Company could therefore be forgiven for fearing the worst ahead of this upcoming encounter at the Cairo International Stadium, especially as the visitors head into this clash on the back of an eight-match winless streak in the domestic top flight.
This poor sequence of results consist of four draws and four defeats and while the visitors picked up points against El Geish, Al Mokawloon, Smouha and Future, these results have been outweighed by losses against Ismaily, National Bank of Egypt, Zamalek and Ghazl El Mehalla.
Indeed, Eastern Company have only managed to muster just two league wins to date in what has been a rather poor campaign, while results away from home also reflect the problems that the visitors have had, winning just one of their nine outings on the road this term.
Therefore, an easy win looks to be on the cards for Al Ahly here.
