Arsenal know they must beat Everton on the final day of the Premier League season to stand any chance of qualifying for the Champions League next term.

The Gunners find themselves in fifth place – two points behind fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur – meaning they also need their rivals to slip up against Norwich City on Sunday.

On the flip side, Everton head into the final day of the season having secured Premier League survival with a remarkable comeback win over Crystal Palace on Thursday. Can they upset Arsenal?

It could be argued that Arsenal have thrown away their top-four dreams, with defeats to Tottenham and Newcastle United giving them a mountain to climb on Sunday.

After suffering a humiliating 3-0 loss in the North London Derby, the Gunners were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle on Monday.

A run of five straight Premier League wins across February and March saw Mikel Arteta’s men take control of the fourth and final Champions League spot.

Since then, however, Arsenal have suffered six defeats in 11 Premier League outings and appear to have handed fourth place to Spurs.

Still, it is worth noting that Arsenal have lost just three of their previous 17 home games in the Premier League – highlighting their strength on home soil.

As for Everton, they were trailing Crystal Palace 2-0 at half-time on Thursday before mounting a miraculous second-half comeback to win 3-2 and secure Premier League safety.

Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the goals to seal the victory, despite the Eagles dominating possession.

The Toffees have now won three of their previous five Premier League outings, suffering a solitary defeat along the way.

However, it is worth pointing out that Everton have only managed to win three of their past 21 away games in the Premier League.

Head-to-head: Believe it or not, Everton have won the previous three Premier League meetings between these two sides.

Three of the last four meetings between Arsenal and Everton have produced over 2.5 goals, so we should see plenty of action on Sunday.

Team news: Arsenal head into the final day of the season with the injured trio of Kieran Tierney, Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

On the flip side, Everton’s injury list includes Nathan Patterson, Yerry Mina, Fabian Delph and Andros Townsend.

Arsenal still have everything to play for. By contrast, Everton have already achieved their goal of avoiding relegation.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Arsenal will beat Everton on Sunday. The Gunners are also expected to keep a clean sheet.
