Aston Villa are 14th in the division. Despite the improvements made immediately after Steve Gerrard’s arrival at Villa Park, the team has failed to kick on into an upper half of the table squad.
The Villains are 14th in the standings with two games to play. If Aston Villa win their last two matches, they could finish as high as ninth. However, they would need those teams in front of them to drop points on the final day.
Thursday’s match is a make-up game after the fixture between the sides was postponed earlier in the campaign. In a twist of fate, Aston Villa and Burnley played just a week and a half ago at Turf Moor. Aston Villa won 3-1.
The good news for Burnley is their recent head-to-head record with Aston Villa. The Clarets have a record of 2W-2D-2L versus the Villains in their last six meetings.

Jackson is unlikely to have important players Ben Mee, Jay Rodriguez, or James Tarkowski available due to injury. Erik Pieters, Matej Vydra, and Ashley Westwood are all three ruled out.
