Leeds United are in extreme trouble heading into the penultimate day of the Premier League season. The Whites are 18th in the league table with six points left to play for. The good news for Jesse Marsch is that the team is level on points with 17th-place Burnley.

The Whites are only in the bottom three due to goal difference. A win or draw on Saturday at Elland Road against Brighton could see Leeds United emerge from the relegation zone.

Brighton are ninth in the league table and are coming off of a brilliant 4-0 home win against Manchester United. The Seagulls have hit a rich vein of form with three straight matches finishing without defeat.

Graham Potter led Brighton to back-to-back wins in the league. Their thrashing of Manchester United was the result of the campaign at the Amex Stadium.

Leeds United are winless in four straight games and three consecutive matches ended in defeat. Marsch’s team has imploded at no fault of the manager. Red cards have been an issue for the Whites and forward Daniel James will miss the game after being sent off versus Chelsea in midweek.

Marsch is currently on pace to have a terrible 2021-22. He was sacked by RB Leipzig in the first half of the season. Being relegated with Leeds United would be a terrible end to the campaign. However, Leeds United’s poor defending and current state is not Marsch’s fault, rather it is Marcelo Bielsa’s.

The reverse fixture between these teams finished nil-nil at the Amex Stadium. Leeds United’s home form has been poor. They picked up just four points from the last 18 points available at Elland Road.

Brighton are one of the top away sides in the Premier League this season. They took nine points from their last 18 points on offer away from the Amex Stadium. Their last away match finished as a 3-0 win versus Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jeremy Sarmeinto is a major doubt for the fixture due to a thigh issue. Jakub Moulder and Enock Mwepu are both ruled out of the match due to injury, respectively.

Marsch has nine players on the injured and suspended list. Tyler Roberts is ruled out with a thigh injury. Raphinha is a slight doubt with a thigh issue. Patrick Bamford is a major doubt following an ankle injury.

James and Luke Ayling are both set to miss the game due to red card suspensions. Jack Harrison is set to miss out with a muscle injury. Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw are both set to miss the game with injuries.

Marsch has a difficult task of keeping Leeds United from relegation. Brighton’s form could see the Whites sent closer to the bottom three.
