Atalanta will play hosts to Torino at the Gewiss Stadium this Wednesday night with the Bergamo outfit looking to get two wins in a row and cut the gap on the European spots just as the Turin side aim to get into the top half.

It's been an incredibly underwhelming season for Atalanta and they are experiencing what is without question their worst campaign in Serie A since they finished 13th in 2015/16.

The club have managed to break the barrier on the Champions League spots for every year since except in 2017/18 when they finished seventh.

Today, they sit eighth in Serie A, two points off Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League spot, four adrift of Roma in fifth, and a whopping 12 away from the fourth-placed Juventus occupying the final Champions League place.

It's near impossible for Atalanta to now get back into the Champions League for next season, but with AC Milan being the only side they meet in their last five games from the top 10, they’ll be confident in racking up an impressive amount of points from now until May.

Gian Piero Gasperini's men have returned to winning ways recently as well after a dreadful run of form seen them lose three Serie A games in a row against Napoli, Sassuolo, and Hellas Verona, as they were also knocked out of the Europa League by RB Leipzig.

Atalanta defeated Venezia at the weekend, however, as Mario Pasalic, Duvan Zapata, and Luis Muriel scored in the 3-1 win.

Torino also got a 2- win against Spezia last time out to get back into the win column, and it means both sides are attempting to make it a rare two wins in a row.

Sasa Lukic was the man who get the two goals for the Turin side against Spezia, and it has now kept them in 11th in the table and with 11 wins now on the board, they'll fancy themselves to get past Sassuolo and Hellas Verona above them as they have a game in hand.

Torino do not usually get involved in as many goals as Atalanta, with them scoring only 38 and letting in just 32 in contrast to the Bergamo outfit’s 57 league goals and 39 conceded.

At the Gewiss Stadium, however, goals could fly in with Atalanta failing to keep a clean sheet in their past six games.

Forebet predicts the game to see over 2.5 goals and an Atalanta win.
