Liverpool will welcome Manchester United to Anfield this Tuesday night as the biggest rivalry in English football takes centre stage with a very different meaning compared to years of the past.

The Reds are entering this one in the midst of pursuing an unrivalled quadruple, with them now into the FA Cup final, the semi-finals of the Champions League, and as the winners of the League Cup already.

At the same time, they are just a point behind Manchester City, and if they can better their result just once over the next six league games, they will be top of the Premier League too.

It’s been a rare sight to see Liverpool so far ahead of United in the Premier League table over the past 30 years, but with the gap between the two sides at a stunning 19 points, Jurgen Klopp’s men can finish above them for what will be just the fifth time in the competition’s 30-year history.

Klopp’s record-breakers are also coming off the back of winning the FA Cup semi-finals in fabulous fashion at Wembley, as they smashed Manchester City from the word go to finish 3-2 winners.

A late flurry from City saw Bernardo Silva score in the 91st minute, as Jack Grealish netted too, but Ibrahima Konate netted his third goal in four games for the club, with Sadio Mane scoring his third goal in two games against City within the past week, as he scored twice to give them a 3-0 lead before half time.

However, the last two weeks have seen Liverpool leak goals much more than they have all season long. Benfica travelled to Anfield last Wednesday, and even they netted three times to draw 3-3 on Merseyside, with the thrilling 2-2 draw coming at the Etihad just three days prior.

The club still haven't tasted defeat in the league since November, however, when West Ham United ran out 3-2 winners, and United will be just their third loss this Premier League campaign if they can get the win.

Ralf Rangick’s side are still struggling as much as they ever have this season, and it’s going to take nothing short of a miracle for them to win here.

They did beat bottom-placed Norwich City at Old Trafford last weekend, but even then they let a two-goal lead slip and needed Cristiano Ronaldo to save them once again with his hat-trick.

Despite the rivalry and the importance of this one for either team, the home side could make it look easy. Forebet predicts a Liverpool win and a game that sees over 2.5 goals.
