West Ham will probably be relieved that they return to the more familiar surroundings of their London Stadium on Easter Sunday when they take on relegation candidates, Burnley, following last weekend’s 2-0 loss away from home at Brentford.

Indeed, that loss at Brentford became West Ham’s third defeat on the trot away from home in the English top flight and followed earlier losses on their travels at Liverpool and Tottenham, both of which were admittedly tough assignments.

However, whilst West Ham have had their problems away from home in recent weeks, The Hammers have continued their solid and consistent work on home soil at the London Stadium as David Moyes’ side are unbeaten in their last five games.

Four wins and a draw have seen West Ham collect important victories against Watford, Wolves, Aston Villa and Everton along with a point in a draw with a rejuvenated Newcastle United, so the hosts look a decent prospect at home for this upcoming fixture.

Indeed, the bigger picture shows West Ham have lost just two of their last 12 home games.

Burnley were dealt a hammer blow last weekend when they suffered a 2-0 defeat away from home at fellow relegation strugglers, Norwich City, which not only became The Clarets’ fifth defeat in their last six matches but also saw Sean Dyche’s side fall four points behind their nearest rivals, Everton, too.

Although Burnley recorded a 3-2 defeat upon aforementioned Everton in the game before, five defeats out of their last six games have done the visitors very little favours in their bid to avoid the drop down to the Championship.

Losses to Leicester City, Chelsea, Brentford, Manchester City and Norwich City have resulted in Burnley remaining in the bottom three of the Premier League and their prospects in chasing down Everton with a result in the nation’s capital on Sunday look fairly remote.

Burnley’s form away from home in this season’s Premier League campaign has been quite simply woeful as the visitors have collected just the one away win all season which came in the shape of a 3-0 win at Brighton.

But eight defeats on their travels suggests a tough task awaits them at London Stadium on Sunday.

West Ham are unbeaten in the previous three meetings against Burnley and The Hammers look in good shape to extend their dominance this Sunday as well.
