Atalanta will look to return to winning ways after a crushing defeat to Napoli last weekend with the Bergamo outfit travelling to the Mapei Stadium where a struggling Sassuolo awaits them.
Both sides have had very topsy-turvy campaigns in their own right this season, as Sassuolo are once again failing to push themselves much further than mid-table, and their eighth-placed standing in Serie A last season is going to take some work to match after their recent defeat to Lazio.
The Rome side led 2-0 in the game until Hamed Traore managed to get one back in the dying embers for Sassuolo in what was his fifth goal of the season which eased the goalscoring pressure on the likes of Domenico Berardi and Gianluca Scamacca.
Nevertheless, despite the recent loss, this shouldn't overlook what has been a stunning run from the club as they swapped a bottom half slump for a battle in the top 10 after an unbeaten run of six games.
In fact, that loss to Lazio was just their third in 2022 as they had not tasted defeat since losing to Hellas Verona in January and Sampdoria in February.
With the Black and Greens now sitting 10th, they have won 11 games and even racked up a stunning 2-0 away win to the champions Inter Milan in recent weeks with 4-1 demolitions of Venezia and Spezia also coming within March.
Atalanta have struggled within the past seven days as they were crushed by Napoli on home soil as Marten de Roon scored in the 3-1 loss to the title chasers.
Gian Piero Gasperini's men also travelled to Germany in midweek as they met with RB Leipzig in the Europa League, in what was a fairly decent performance to a solid Bundesliga side.
Luis Muriel scored once more for Atalanta, and a David Zappacosta own goal was the only way Leipzig got back into the game during the 1-1 draw.
Both sides have been scoring the goals once more this season, but stunningly, with the Bergamo side outscoring everyone in Serie A for the past four years, they have now netted just 52 in 30 league games, which is four less than that of Sassuolo's record. The away side have also conceded 51 times, just as Atalanta have conceded 34.
