Reims resumed their Ligue 1 campaign in disappointing fashion after the international break as they were handed a 1-0 defeat away from home at Troyes last weekend which also put an end to their previously promising five-game unbeaten run in the French top flight.
That loss has resulted in Reims dropping down the table to 13th place but the hosts should not have any immediate concerns regarding a relegation battle as they possess a comfortable looking nine-point buffer between themselves and third from bottom outfit, St Etienne.

Reims had earlier posted wins against Monaco and Angers in 2-1 and 1-0 victories respectively.
And which were also both away from home as well, while they’d also picked up points in draws with Brest, Strasbourg and Lyon on home soil.
The hosts have produced stubborn displays at home in recent weeks too as they’ve lost just twice in their last nine games which were to Angers and Metz.
Although they’ve also found wins hard to come by as well, Reims have picked up just three wins during this period with the draw being most prevalent with four stalemates.
Rennes by contrast have produced more impressive and consistent displays in the domestic top flight as the visitors bring a decent looking six-match unbeaten run into this Saturday afternoon’s clash at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II, winning five of these six games.
Wins against Troyes, Montpellier, Angers, Lyon and Metz, the latter being a 6-1 demolition of their opponents, have helped lift Rennes into 3rd place in the Ligue 1 standings and just three points behind 2nd placed Marseille and a possible Champions League berth for next season.
Similar to their hosts, Reims, Rennes haven’t been without their problems though either as the visitors had earlier suffered a worrying our-match losing sequence on their travels with defeats incurred at Monaco, Lens, Clermont and PSG but the visitors have seemingly recovered since.
Rennes are now unbeaten in their last three away games which includes two wins that were collected on the road at mid-table Montpellier and 9th placed Lyon, both of which were by 4-2 margins whilst also picking up a solid point in a 1-1 draw at 5th placed Nice, so Rennes look a tough prospect for Reims in this one.
