The French Ligue 1 action continues on Sunday and features this upcoming encounter between mid-table Lyon and bottom half outfit, Angers, when the two teams meet at the Groupama Stadium.
Lyon had posted some inconsistent results prior to the international break following a decent run of form which saw Lyon put together a seven-match unbeaten sequence, but results dipped before the break.

With just two wins in their subsequent seven games overall in the French top flight, which included wins against Nice 2-0 and a 4-1 thrashing of Lorient, Lyon also slipped to three defeats as well during this period, losing to Monaco, Lille and Rennes.
This has resulted in Lyon remaining in their mid-table position of 10th on the Ligue 1 ladder and they are six points adrift of 5th placed Strasbourg ahead of this weekend’s fixtures in the domestic top flight.
Although Lyon have lost their last two games at home (to Lille and Rennes), the hosts have lost just three games in total on home soil this season.
Angers occupy 14th place in the Ligue 1 standings and the visitors will be looking to pick up where they left off just before the international break here this Sunday after recording a welcome and much needed 1-0 home win against Brest.
This welcome victory also put an end to a previously worrying and dismal run of seven defeats on the trot for Angers who had found themselves sliding down the table into 14th place but they’ll now head to Lyon in a better frame of mind this weekend.
However, results away from home suggest this could be another tough outing on the road for Angers who have managed to pick up just one win out of their last 13 matches on their travels, which also includes five defeats and seven draws within this period as well.
Perhaps the most telling statistic though is that Angers have managed to keep just one clean sheet in these last 13 away games and their easily breached defence could find themselves under further pressure against Lyon at the Groupama Stadium.
Lyon have won four of the last five home meetings against Angers and the hosts look in fairly good shape to extend this record on Sunday afternoon.
