Senegal will take on Egypt at the Diamniadio Olympic Stadium as they look to overturn a 1-0 aggregate scoreline in this two-legged affair to see who can make it to the World Cup at the end of this month.

Just like when the two sides met in the Africa Cup of Nations final back in early February, there was very little separating either side heading into the game and on the pitch.

Back in that February clash, Senegal narrowly won on penalties after a goalless game, but Egypt were able to turn things around in the World Cup Qualifiers recently.

Both Liverpool heroes, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, struggled to get into the game once more and it was left to the others from both sides to get the win for their nation.

Salah did, however, play a big part in the game’s only goal as Saliou Ciss scored an own goal when the winger’s effort came off the bar and deflected in.

However, Senegal remained defensively solid with Kalidou Koulibaly at the back in front of Edouard Mendy. Senegal will now need all their top tier European experience from the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Mane and Ismaila Sarr, with Egypt now boasting a 1-0 lead amidst a three-game run of keeping a clean sheet for them.

The Pharaohs managed to restrict Cameroon to no goals in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals, before doing the same to Senegal a few days later in the final.

Now, with one goal scored and zero let in from their past three, it’s fair to say that not all Egypt fans are coming into this game with complete confidence.

This game was also the first Senegal have failed to win inside 90 minutes since their group stage draw with Malawi back in January at the AFCON.

They've since gone on to beat Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso before the two games with Egypt.

Both sides are also set to field near enough the same starting XI from what played in the game three days ago with there being no new suspensions or injuries to deal with in this vital World Cup qualifier clash.

As has been the case in the past two games involving these two already this year, a close game is expected here and Forebet predicts a draw and for the game to see under 2.5 goals as Egypt get the job done on aggregate and head to Qatar 2022..
