South Korea will be eager to further extend what has been an impressive unbeaten sequence as the hosts have avoided defeat in each of their last 13 matches in all competitions, with only two of these games being international friendlies while the hosts have won 11 of these games as well.
South Korea have also made themselves tough to beat on home soil too as the hosts are unbeaten in their last 17 matches in their own backyard and includes 11 clean sheets.
Onto Iran, and as mentioned earlier, the visitors hold a two-point cushion over their hosts at the top of Group A and perhaps only require a draw on Thursday night to further strengthen their position at the summit of the group.
Iran have also produced a string of impressive results of late as well with the visitors being unbeaten in each of their last 15 matches overall in all competitions.
Winning 14 of these 15 games and being held to a draw by none other than Thursday’s opponents, South Korea, in a 1-1 draw back in last October in the earlier corresponding fixture of these World Cup qualifiers.
In addition, Iran have won each of their last seven away games in all competitions as well, so this gives the visitors a decent chance of gaining a result of some sort at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Thursday evening.
Especially as the visitors have kept five clean sheets and amassed a total of 23 goals in the process.
Both South Korea and Iran therefore appear to be well-matched and indeed, each of the previous three meetings between these two nations have ended all square and another stalemate may not be out of the question on Thursday evening either.
