There’s further action from the French top flight on Sunday when Angers take on Brest at Stade Raymond-Kopa in Ligue 1 with the hosts still nervously looking over their collective shoulders at the teams below them in the Ligue 1 standings.
Although Angers currently occupy the relative safety of 14th place on the Ligue 1 ladder and hold a three-point cushion above third from bottom side, St Etienne, Angers know they are not out of the woods yet in terms of relegation trouble and the recent spate of defeats that have been dealt out to them certainly haven’t helped either.

Angers have suffered seven defeats on the trot in the domestic top flight which has seen the hosts concede a total of 13 goals in the process while scoring just 3 in reply.
So confidence is expected to be fragile at best amongst the Angers camp and the first goal (if there is one), may well be pivotal.
Sunday’s hosts have also lost six out of their last seven games on home soil which includes losing their last four on the trot as well.
Brest meanwhile have posted a mixed bag of results in the French top flight in recent weeks as the visitors have picked up victories over Lille, Troyes and Lens but have also slipped to six losses within their last 11 matches overall as well.
Before this inconsistent 11-match period, Brest had previously put together an impressive six-match winning streak in Ligue 1 which consisted of wins against Monaco, Lorient, Lens, Bordeaux, St Etienne and Marseille respectively.
So the visitors will be hoping they can return to this sort of form on Sunday afternoon.
Despite Brest’s inconsistent sequence of results in the recent weeks though, Brest have at least made themselves tough to beat on their travels so far this season as the visitors have lost just two out of their last nine matches on the road.
These two defeats were at runaway league leaders, PSG, and 4th placed Rennes, but on the flip-side, Brest have also collected four wins on the road at Lorient, Bordeaux, Marseille and Lens, so this gives Brest plenty of confidence that they can squeeze out a result at the Stade Raymond-Kopa on Sunday afternoon.
Forebet predicts that Brest could sneak a narrow 1-0 win here in a tight contest.
