The French top flight action continues on Saturday afternoon with this upcoming clash between Lens and Clermont Foot where the two teams will face off at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis with the hosts desperate to stay in the hunt for a possible top five finish in Ligue 1.
Lens currently occupy 9th place on the Ligue 1 ladder and find themselves six points adrift of 5th placed Strasbourg but the home side will be eyeing off a potential three-point haul here on Saturday when they welcome a struggling Clermont Foot outfit to their Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Lens themselves have struggled for results in recent times as the hosts have secured just four wins out of their last 15 matches overall, having achieved victories against Rennes, St Etienne, Bordeaux and Angers but also slipping to six defeats within this period as well.
However, form and results at home have produced more solid displays as Lens have suffered just two defeats out of their last 10 games on home soil while picking up five wins in the process.
Clermont Foot have dropped down to 16th place in the Ligue 1 standings and just two points above the bottom three in the domestic top flight following recent defeats to Lille 4-0 away from home and last weekend’s 2-0 defeat on home soil to fellow strugglers, Lorient.
These recent defeats will have done little for Clermont Foot’s already fragile confidence while the bigger picture shows that the visitors have mustered just four wins out of their last 18 matches overall.
The only positive from these four wins has been the fact that three of these four victories were achieved on the road with wins gained at Angers, Nice and Marseille but the visitors have picked up just four away wins throughout the whole of this season’s Ligue 1 campaign out of 14 outings to date.
Having also stumbled to a total of eight defeats so far this season as well, Clermont Foot look to have their work cut out when they travel to Lens this Saturday especially as the visitors have managed to keep just four clean sheets on their travels in the process.
Lens are unbeaten in their last six meetings against Clermont Foot and the hosts should triumph in this encounter.
