Milan to Stay at the Top of Serie A by Beating Empoli

AC Milan will welcome Empoli to Serie A this weekend as the league leaders look to stay top of Serie A with yet another win that is set to keep them ahead of Inter Milan and Napoli following a stunning victory last weekend.

Milan have been relentless this season and have now clearly built on what was a fantastic but underwhelming campaign in 2020/21.

Now, weeks after a stunning victory over Inter where an Oliver Giroud brace sealed all three points to push them top the table, the Frenchman has done it again.

His tidy finish against Napoli last weekend sent Milan back to the top of Serie A with Milan beating them 1-0 in a must-win game.

It’s yet another victory for Stefano Pioli’s men in another huge clash this season and they now sit two points ahead of Inter and three above Napoli who are in third.

The victory for Giroud and co. also means Milan have now got back on a winning run following a bit of collapse in their season which did spark a bit of fear around the red of the San Siro.

A 2-2 draw with relegation-fighting Salernitana followed by a 1-1 draw with another side fighting relegation, Udinese, and Milan found themselves in a bit of a pickle as they also drew 0-0 in the Coppa Italia with their city rivals, Inter.

Now though, with only 29 goals conceded in Serie A and 54 goals scored and now a league-high 18 wins from 28 games, the club are going to keep on marching for their first Serie A title in over a decade.

As for Empoli, It has been a topsy-turvy season for them and while they sit 10 points above relegation and can afford more dropped points, Udinese below them do have a game in hand, as do 18th-placed Venezia, meaning this gap could be closed to seven this weekend if they don't win.

A win, however, is not expected here, especially as Milan have been so excellent both on the road and here at the San Siro this season.

Alarmingly for Empoli, it's now been 12 games without a victory for them since beating Hellas Verona back in December, and this winless streak even saw Milan beat them 4-2 on their own patch Andrea Pinamonti scored a penalty that day after Nedim Bajrami scored too.

Milan’s form is too good right now, and Empoli’s is too poor. Forebet predicts a win for Milan and the game to see under 2.5 goals.
