Watford are coming off of a 4-0 loss at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday in the Premier League. Roy Hodgson’s arrival has done nothing to help the Hornets’ Premier League survival race.
On Sunday, Southampton welcome Watford to St. Mary’s Stadium. The Saints are on a two-match losing streak and are coming off of a 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United.

Southampton are on a seven-match unbeaten streak versus Watford in all competitions. In the reverse fixture, Southampton won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Che Adams after 20 minutes.
Despite losing their last two matches in the Premier League, Southampton are in overall good form. They picked up 10 points from the last 18 points available. The Saints scored nine goals and concede nine times across their last six matches.
Watford picked up four points from the last 18 points available in the division. They were outscored 13-4 across the last six games.
Ralph Hasenhuttl is likely to be without three players for the match. Defender Lyanco is ruled out of action until April. Nathan Tella is a major doubt with a groin strain. Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has a thigh injury and will continue to stay on the sidelines.
Hodgson has six players on the injury list. The manager used to have a long list of injured players at Crystal Palace and his player injury issues have followed him to Vicarage Road.
Up to six players could be absent on Sunday at St. Mary’s Stadium for Hodgson. Nicolas Nkoulou is ruled out of action. Ismaila Sarr is ruled out as well due to a thigh injury. Hodgson is unlikely to have Kiko Femenia, Joao Pedro, and Jeremy Ngakia.
Southampton are in good form at home. Although they fell 2-1 to Newcastle at St. Mary’s Stadium on Thursday. The Saints went unbeaten in the five previous home fixtures. They have a great home record of 5W-7D-2L with 19 goals scored and 12 goals conceded.
Watford have an away record of 3W-3D-8L in the Premier League. They are –7 in goals away from home this season. Watford have conceded the third-most goals in the Premier League with 54. They have scored the fourth-fewest goals with just 27.
The Hornets failed to win 15 of their last 16 Premier League matches and that trend won’t change on Sunday. Southampton will pick up a win to nil with under 1.5 goals scored.
