Marseille will be looking to enhance their top-four credentials when they welcome Monaco to the Stade Veledrome on Sunday night.

The hosts sit second in the Ligue 1 table – four points inside the top four. With PSG 15 points ahead in first place, Marseille’s title hope are all but over.

Meanwhile, Monaco find themselves in ninth place –five points outside the top four and nine points behind Marseille.

Marseille have lost just two of their previous ten Ligue 1 games, recording five wins and three draws in the process.

When you look at the bigger picture, Marseille have only suffered three defeats in their last 18 league matches.

Marseille’s recent upturn has coincided with an impressive run on home soil. Indeed, they have lost just three of their previous 20 home games in Ligue 1.

Dimitri Payet has been Marseille’s standout performer this season, bagging 11 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.

On the flip side, Monaco have only managed to win one of their past five league games – recording two draws and two losses along the way.

It is also worth pointing out that Monaco have picked up a solitary victory across their previous eight away games in France’s top tier.

That said, Monaco can take confidence from the fact that only five teams have scored more goals in Ligue 1 this term.

Monaco head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a penalty-shootout defeat to Nantes in the Coupe de France semi-finals on Wednesday.

Head-to-head: In the reverse fixture back in September, Marseille claimed a 2-0 away victory over Monaco.

Monaco have only managed to win two of their previous eight meetings with Marseille in all competitions, suffering four defeats along the way.

Team news: Marseille have no injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s clash, although Boubacar Kamara and Leonardo Balerdi are both one yellow card away from receiving a suspension.

By contrast, Monaco will be without the injured trio of Krepin Diatta, Benoit Badiashile and Aleksandr Golovin on Sunday.

Given the nine-point gap between these two sides, Marseille are expected to claim all three points when Monaco come to town.

Forebet predicts that Marseille will score over 2.5 goals on their way to dispatching Monaco.
