Next up is a bottom half encounter between 15th placed Getafe and their second from bottom counterparts, Alaves, when the two teams meet at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Saturday afternoon with both teams searching for a valuable three points.
Looking at Getafe first, and the hosts have done their chances of La Liga survival no harm at all in recent weeks and months as they’ve suffered just two defeats in their previous 12 matches overall which has helped them up into 15th place and more importantly, six points above the relegation zone.

Within this stubborn period of resistance, Getafe have kept no fewer than seven clean sheets in the process and this successful run of results has been underpinned by a solid defensive unit which helped claim a notable 1-0 home win over Real Madrid amongst other victories.
After a shaky start at home this season which saw Getafe lose four out of their opening five games, the hosts have since responded in positive fashion by winning six out of their subsequent seven home games, keeping five clean sheets along the way.
Alaves dropped down to second from bottom position in the Spanish top flight following a heavy 3-0 defeat away from home at Real Madrid last weekend and the visitors face another tricky proposition in the shape of Getafe this Saturday.
Although Alaves registered a welcome 2-1 home win over Valencia in the game beforehand, that has been the visitors’ only highlight in an otherwise dismal sequence of results in La Liga as they’ve also stumbled to eight defeats and been involved in four draws as well.
This poor run of form has contributed to Alaves not only sitting in the relegation zone but also the visitors are now four points adrift of fourth from bottom outfit, Granada and safety prior to this weekend’s domestic top flight fixtures.
The bigger picture also paints a gloomy outlook for Alaves who have managed to record just two away wins on the road from their previous 26 outings on their travels which were gained at Elche and Cadiz but also includes losing 18 of these 26 games as well.
In addition, Alaves have failed to score in 14 of these 26 away games and this could once again result in another defeat for the visitors against a solid Getafe outfit.
