Saturday afternoon features action from the French top flight and an important clash between Lens and Lyon at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis with both teams chasing a possible top five finish in Ligue 1.
Lens bounced back from two defeats on the trot after losing to Marseille and Lorient respectively last time out when they recorded a much-needed 3-2 home win over Bordeaux but this upcoming clash against Lyon looks to be a tough assignment despite holding home advantage.

Lens have previously posted back-to-back wins against Rennes and St Etienne as well but it’s worth mentioning that these three wins have been Lens’ only highlights in their last 11 matches overall in the domestic top flight.
Five defeats within this period suggest that Saturday’s hosts could struggle against a Lyon outfit who have won four of their last five games overall.
Lens themselves have impressed at home lately, losing just once in their last eight games at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
Lyon sit one league place and one point above Lens prior to this weekend’s fixtures in Ligue 1 and they too head into this vital clash on the back of a win which came in the shape of a 2-0 home win over Nice on the weekend.
Although Lyon had previously been dealt a 2-0 defeat away from home at Monaco in the game beforehand, overall results of late have also been impressive from the visitors as Lyon have suffered just this one defeat out of their last nine games overall.
Following four draws on the trot with Bordeaux, Lille, Metz and PSG, Lyon have won four out of their subsequent five games which includes picking up victories over Troyes, St Etienne, Marseille and the aforementioned win against Nice.
Results away from home do require further attention as Lyon have managed to win just two of their last nine games on the road.
Recently, Lyon have improved in this area too as the visitors have lost just one of their last five on their travels, so they look a decent prospect here.
Perhaps the most telling statistic though is the fact that Lyon are unbeaten in the last five meetings against Lens, winning four of these five encounters and the visitors could come out on top once more on Saturday.
