On Sunday afternoon, Hellas Verona will look to revive their bid for European football next season as they host Udinese at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegod in Serie A.
Verona are currently ninth in the Serie A standings, but they are just six points off the European spots in the Italian top-flight. Igor Tudor’s team have experienced mixed results of late in Serie A.
Last time out, Hellas suffered a 2-0 defeat at in-form Juventus. The game was always going to be a difficult one considering the Bianconeri’s recent fine league form.
However, the result means that the Verona have won three and lost two of their previous five matches in the Italian top-flight.
The game also continued a recent trend of high-scoring games for Hellas in Serie A, as their last six league outings have produced at least two goals.
Verona’s home record has been poor in recent months, as Tudor’s team has won just once in their last five league games on home soil.
Udinese are firmly ensconced in 14th place in the Serie A table, 12 points adrift of the European places and nine points clear of the relegation zone. The Bianconeri’s form has not been great of late.
However, a 2-0 home win over Torino last time out ended a short three-game winless streak in the Italian top-flight for the visitors.
The game also saw a second straight clean sheet, which is a positive for Gabrielle Cioffi’s team.
Udinese have struggled on their travels in Serie A of late, as they have won just once in ten away games in the Italian top-flight.
They have now also failed to score in back-to-back away matches in Serie A.
Forebet predicts that Verona will keep alive their hopes of European football next season by recording a victory in a low-scoring encounter.
