Sunday brings us further action from the French Ligue 1 and the afternoon fixture features this upcoming clash between Strasbourg and Nantes at the Stade de la Meinau with Strasbourg looking to further strengthen their top five position.
4th placed Strasbourg were handed defeat last time out in the French top tier as they lost a 4-3 thriller away from home at Bordeaux which put an end to a previously impressive three-match winning streak in Ligue 1 which included victories over Metz, Montpellier and Clermont respectively.

The bigger picture looks promising though for Strasbourg who have suffered just the two defeats in their last 11 matches overall, while the hosts have also managed to pick up six wins during this period as well.
Despite an opening home loss to Angers, Strasbourg have been beaten just a further two times in their subsequent 10 matches on home soil at their Stade de la Meinau which were to the likes of Lille and 3rd placed Marseille who they trail by a five-point margin prior to these weekend fixtures.
Nantes dropped down to 10th place in the Ligue 1 standings despite recording a 4-2 home win against Lorient but overall results in recent weeks have produced a mixed bag of returns for Sunday’s visitors.
Nantes have won just four out of their last 11 matches overall in the domestic top flight, two each at home and away, while also being dealt four defeats within this period as well, so they are by no means guaranteed a result at the Stade de la Meinau on Sunday afternoon.
Of their total of nine wins to date in Ligue 1 though, Nantes have managed to win just three on their travels so far this season.
They were achieved at 12th placed Angers, second from bottom outfit, Lorient, and basement dwellers, St Etienne, while also losing five of their 11 away games to date this term.
In addition, Nantes have managed to keep just two clean sheets on the road all season and their recent head-to-head record against Sunday’s hosts, Strasbourg, also hasn’t been very encouraging in recent encounters.
Nantes have managed to win just once in their last six meetings against Strasbourg and given their below-par displays on the road so far this season, the visitors look set to struggle again on Sunday afternoon.
