Next up is a top five clash in La Liga 2 between 5th placed Ponferradina and 4th placed Tenerife when the two teams meet at the Estadio El Toralín with a precious three points up for grabs.

Ponferradina were dealt a 2-0 defeat away at Real Oviedo during this sequence but overall results in La Liga 2 have been fairly solid; with just two defeats out of their last 12 matches, four of which have been draws, Ponferradina look a tough unit to beat especially on home soil.
The bigger picture shows that Ponferradina have suffered just the one defeat out of their last 13 matches and this stubborn sequence of results include six wins and six draws as well.
Sunday’s visitors, Tenerife, sit just one league position and one point above Ponferradina in this important clash with the visitors also heading into this encounter on the back of a welcome league win.
A comprehensive 4-0 home win over Real Oviedo helped maintain Tenerife’s push for possible automatic promotion as they now find themselves just four points adrift of 2nd placed Almeria ahead of this weekend’s La Liga 2 fixtures.
Although Tenerife experienced something of a hiccup back in October, losing back-to-back matches against Las Palmas and Eibar in quick succession, the visitors have subsequently pulled things around in their favour by putting together a sequence of just two defeats in their subsequent 13 games overall.
These losses were incurred against Malaga and Las Palmas but seven wins and four draws have helped steady the ship while also holding their own on their travels where they’ve lost just once in their last six outings on the road.
Three draws in Tenerife’s last five away games though suggests that the draw is something to consider for this upcoming clash especially as a third of Ponferradina’s last 12 matches overall have also ended in stalemate.
The prize of three valuable points will obviously be tempting but it’s suspected that both Ponferradina and Tenerife would rather not lose this tussle and a draw could be on the cards as a result.
