On Saturday night, Burkina Faso and Tunisia go head-to-head in the second Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final at the Roumde Adjia Stadium.

Tunisia booked their spot in the quarter-finals with a 1-0 victory over Nigeria in the round of 16, with Youssef Msakni netting the winning goal.

Meanwhile, Burkina Faso advanced thanks to a dramatic penalty shootout win over Gabon in the previous round.

Bertrand Traore gave Burkina Faso the lead on Sunday before a stoppage-time Adama Guira own goal sent the match into extra-time.

Following another 30 minutes of goalless action, Burkina Faso eventually won 7-6 on penalties to progress to the last eight.

Burkina Faso have lost just one of their AFCON games so far. After losing to Cameroon in their first match, they beat Cape Verde before drawing the Ethiopia.

It is worth noting that Burkina Faso have scored exactly one goal in each of their four clashes at the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, they have only managed to keep one clean sheet – conceding two against Cameroon before conceding once against Ethiopia and Gabon.

On the flip side, Tunisia registered one win and two losses in the group stage. That saw them qualify for the last 16 as one of the best third-placed teams.

After losing to Mali, Tunisia crushed Mauritania 4-0 before losing to Gambia. They finished third in Group F – four points behind Mali and Gambia.

However, Tunisia proved they can beat the best teams in the tournament by overcoming Nigeria in the round of 16.

The Super Eagles enjoyed the lion’s share of possession at racked up 13 shots, but Tunisia scored just after half-time and managed to protect their lead.

Head-to-head: Tunisia have only managed to win one of their six meetings with Burkina Faso across all competitions, suffering three losses along the way.

Burkina Faso are currently enjoying a four-match unbeaten streak in this fixture, heaving picked up three wins and draw since their last loss to Tunisia.

Team news: Burkina Faso will be without the injured trio of Soumaila Ouattara, Dango Ouattara and Saidou Simpore on Saturday.

Tunisia have also picked up a few injuries since the tournament got underway. Ali Maaloul, Ali Abdi, Ghaylen Chaaleli and Yoann Touzghar could all miss the quarter-finals.

There is very little to separate these two sides at the moment, meaning we should see a close-fought encounter on Saturday.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Burkina Faso and Tunisia will play out a low-scoring draw inside 90 minutes. Extra-time – and possibly penalties – may be required to determine the winner.
